The Monday That Sucks More Than Anything That Has Ever Sucked Before.

Those of you who have been reading this journal for some time might remember an entry from the August archives called "In This Dark Hour...". In that entry, I had been hired as a senior technician at Dell Computers, but they recanted on the job offer at the last moment. The LAST moment. Well, guess what?

This morning I called the guy that interviewed me at HGTV. He said that I was a natural shoe-in for the job I had applied for. I had the skills, the personality, and the education for the job. Unfortunately this wasn't good enough.

It seems that someone else within the company applied and was also qualified. Per corporate policy, they hired from within. Besides, he has been with the company for two years and it was time for him to be promoted. Well, I'd like to take the time to congratulate him, because it REALLY sucks for me.

See, I'm a KNOXVILLIAN. I'm NOT from Nashville, and have no desire to be here. Unfortunately once I got here, I haven't seemed to be able to get back out. Our daughters are spending their days at my mother-in-laws house, and I'd almost rather them be raised by a pack of wolves. Not to mention that it takes over an hour for my wife to drive out there and back to drop them off. Add that to the drive time of a morning and evening commute. It sucks.

(Had I gotten the job, Jeanne could have stayed at home with the kids instead of having to ship them off to my in-laws' house.)

Home is another thing. We live in a two bedroom apartment. We pay roughly $700.00 a month for this two bedroom apartment. We had a house picked out in Knoxville that cost about a hundred dollars a month less, and we would be BUYING it, not renting it. Here's where the housing situation gets interesting. Our two bedroom apartment was fine a year ago for two adults and a one and a half year old. Now, it's too small for two adults, a two an a half year old, and a three month old who is quickly outgrowing her little baby bed. She's at the age where she needs her own room. Well, we're fresh out of rooms.

It gets better. The apartment has a lease. The lease ran out in March. Since we're such good tennants, they extended our stay to include April at no extra charge. But April is nearly up and here we are. So now I have two weeks to find a place to move and to figure out where we're going and when I'm going to go.

Life was tough a little while ago. It just plain sucks today.

I'm miserable as I sit here at work, staring into this Dell monitor (a reminder of my disappointment in August), with the HGTV post-it note stuck to it (a reminder of my current disappointment). I wanted to go home so I can collect my thoughts and figure out what we're going to do, but my boss said since one girl is off today, I can't go. That doesn't make sense to me because I've been here for three hours now and I've only take four calls. Drew, who is the first one to come in, has been here nearly six hours and has taken ten calls. It's a very slow day, but I have to be here just in case things pick up. (sigh)

Somthing will happen. Something HAS to happen. I have a birthday coming up Saturday. I'll be 27. All I want for my birthday is a job in Knoxville.

Is that too much to ask?
